Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data Yegy collects when you visit or buy from our online store, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.
1. Who we are
Yegy is a UK clothing brand selling oversized hoodies with an inflatable pillow in the hood. We run the Yegy online store on Shopify and ship orders within the UK.
For data protection law, Yegy is the "controller" of your personal data, meaning we decide how and why it's used. You can reach us at privacy@yegy.co.uk.
This policy covers our website, our checkout, and any emails or messages you send us. It doesn't cover other sites we link to, such as our social media pages, which have their own policies.
2. What we collect
When you place an order, we collect your name, delivery address, billing address, email address, phone number (if you give one) and the contents of your order. Your payment is handled by our payment provider, so we never see or store your full card number.
If you sign up to our mailing list, we collect your email address and the fact that you agreed to hear from us. If you email or message us, we keep the conversation so we can answer you and deal with any follow-up.
When you browse the store, your browser and Shopify automatically give us technical data: your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you viewed, and how you arrived at the site. Most of this comes through cookies — see our Cookie Policy for the details.
We don't ask for, and don't want, sensitive data such as health information or your date of birth.
3. How we use it
UK data protection law says we need a legal basis for each use of your data. Here are ours.
| What we do | Data involved | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Process and ship your order | Name, addresses, email, phone, order contents | Contract — we need it to deliver what you bought |
| Take payment and handle refunds | Billing details, order total | Contract |
| Keep accounting and tax records | Order and payment records | Legal obligation |
| Answer your questions and deal with returns | Email, messages, order history | Contract, or legitimate interests in running the shop properly |
| Send order updates and delivery tracking | Email, phone, order contents | Contract |
| Send marketing emails about new drops | Email address | Consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Prevent fraud and keep the store secure | IP address, device data, order details | Legitimate interests in protecting the business and customers |
| Understand how people use the store | Cookie and browsing data | Consent for non-essential cookies |
We don't sell your data, and we don't use it to make automated decisions about you.
4. Who we share it with
We share data only with the companies that help us run the store, and only what they need to do their job:
- Shopify, which hosts our store and checkout and stores customer and order records.
- Our payment providers (for example Shopify Payments or PayPal), who process your payment.
- Post Office and any courier we use, who receive your name, delivery address and phone number so they can deliver your parcel.
- Our email marketing tool, if you've subscribed to our mailing list.
- Analytics and advertising services, if you accept the matching cookies.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, for example to HMRC or in response to a valid request from the police or a court. If Yegy is ever sold or merged, your data may pass to the new owner, who'd have to honour this policy.
5. How long we keep it, and where it's stored
We keep order and payment records for six years, because UK tax rules require it. Messages you send us are kept for up to two years after we last spoke. Mailing list details stay until you unsubscribe, and we delete them soon after.
Shopify and some of our other providers store data on servers outside the UK. Where that happens, we rely on safeguards the law recognises, such as the UK's data bridge arrangements or standard contract clauses. We take reasonable steps to keep your data secure, including limiting who can access the store admin.
6. Cookies
Cookies are small files your browser stores when you visit a site. Our store sets essential cookies that keep your basket and checkout working, and these don't need your consent. We only set analytics or advertising cookies if you accept them in the cookie banner.
You can change your choice at any time through the cookie banner, or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies will stop the checkout from working. Read the full breakdown in our Cookie Policy.
7. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- correct anything that's wrong or incomplete
- delete your data, where we've no legal reason to keep it
- limit or stop how we use your data
- send your data to you or another company in a usable format
You can also withdraw consent for marketing emails at any time, using the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us. Email privacy@yegy.co.uk to use any of these rights. We'll reply within one month and won't charge a fee in most cases.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
8. Children
Our store is meant for adults and for young people buying with a parent or guardian's help. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you think a child has given us their details, contact us and we'll delete them.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll also email customers on our mailing list.
